Good bye 2009 and Welcome 2010!!!!
This year I brought in the New Year in one of my favorite places, ATHENS, GA. I have the deepest affinity for Athens. It is not because I love the dawgs (although, they're not bad) or because I went to UGA, but I truly love the town of Athens. Especially during Christmas when the twinkle lights go up in the trees downtown. There are so many great places to eat, shop, and hang out with friends. Here are a few of my favorites:
The Last Resort. Hands down my favorite restaurant. You can get a fantastic meal, a good glass of wine, and the greatest slice of cake (by Cecelia Velasquez Cakes) for you and a friend for under fifty bucks. My husband and I spent three years dating at Resort and my wedding cake even came from there!
The Globe. It's one of my dad's and husband's favorites. It's a great place to grab a beer and have a good conversation any time of day.
Helix. I love this store. It has great jewelry and it's always fun to browse even if you don't purchase anything.
Good bye Cookies and Company...tear. Cookies was one of my favorite lunch spots in Athens. No more 'Oppie's salad' for me with a ginger molasses cookie and an Arnold Palmer. Cookies has closed down, I am not sure why, but it will be missed!
Jittery Joe's. Best coffee shop around. There are a couple of Jittery Joe's in Athens and whether you need to study or just grab a latte it's the place to go!
The Bell Tower on UGA campus.
The Arches, where you enter campus from downtown.
Happy Birthday!!!
New Years Eve is my Dad's Birthday, so when he wanted to go to Athens to celebrate, Cullen and I jumped at the opportunity. We stayed at the Foundry (my favorite place to stay) and had a delicious meal at FIVE AND TEN for a laid back New Years celebration. Thanks Dad.
Sigh...oh Athens. How I miss you so. I'm glad you had a wonderful New Years! Great pictures, friend.
