I love Durham





came to Durham this weekend.

What is Lumiere....
it's hard to describe but basically 30 or so artists
came to Durham and set up light installations throughout town.
Some of these were really interesting, some not so much.

Their were thousands of people who came to view Lumiere

Outside of the Cathedral:

(and yes those are wife beaters but
for the sake of art pretend they are just lights)

Doesn't it remind you of Harry Potter and the floating candles?

Whats On...November

NOVEMBER
3rd- Starbucks starts selling Christmas drinks....
(you can't tell me a gingerbread latte isn't delicious)
17-20 November LUMIERE
17th- NAFAS Meeting (flower arranging society)
19th- Jan 2nd "Beaming with Christmas Cheer" - Beamish Musuem
(visit Father Christmas and Ice Skate on their outdoor rink)
22nd - 4th Dec. - Newcastle Continental Market
takes over old Eldon Square with Christmas food from overseas, to crepes or
Dutch waffles and German bratwurst and gluhwein (mulled wine)
27th- Christmas lights switch on!

Anyone know anything else I should know about?

Whats On...September

I love knowing what is going on in my town as well as the surrounding areas.
Sometimes it takes a lot of work to read different publications and websites,
so I thought I would share what I think is worth enjoying.

SEPTEMBER
16th - 25th York Festival of Food and Drink
25th- Crook Hall and Gardens Apple and Pear Day
(free fruit)
19th - Your Racehorse Antique Fair
30th - 2nd October- Newcastle Art Fair

ALL THE TIME
Sundays - Newcastle Quayside Market - "quirky local food", Dogs welcome!, 9am-4pm
First Fridays- Newcastle Farmers Market -
set up on Grainer Street selling free range eggs, organic
and handmade goods (next to Greys Monument)
Third Thursdays - Durham Indoor Farmers Market 9am-
