Alnwick

We took a day trip last Saturday to Alnwick - pronounced Annick

The town is known for the castle and gardens
it's home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, the Percy's
whose family has owned Alnwick since 1309

Does the facade look familiar....
Alnwick was used as Hogwarts flying school in the first 2 movies

We were not allowed to take pictures of the inside, but it was pretty impressive.
The Queen came to have lunch in June and the Percy's move
back into the castle in a few weeks for the winter.

The Gardens were beautiful
cherry trees, rose garden, poison garden (yes that's right), water fountains,
cool water sculptures - see below

On the grounds there is this oddly placed tree house,
it feels like a ski lodge restaurant in the middle of a 14th century castle...?
We had a wonderful lunch there
