Back from Haiti

I have been asked "What did you do in Haiti?" a lot and that question remains difficult to answer. While our activities can be listed, they are difficult to narrate. We did not set out on a particular "mission", we were not there to "fix Haiti's problems". Instead we were invited into the lives of Haitian families. These are unique families, that some may call homes for children and also churches, but they are truly families within Haiti. St. Joseph’s home for boys, the Cite Soleil church and school, Blanchard church and school, House of Hope, Trinity House, even the Mother Teresa homes are all a part of an interconnected community. We shared meals with these families, played games, listened to their stories, made kites, broke bread, held hands, and slowly learned what it looks like to live life together.
